Anurag's music reverberates of the radiance of his mentors Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Pandit Chandrakant Apte.

Anurag Harsh has won India's highest national music award by the Sangeet Research Academy.

An architect of the Kirana Gharana, Anurag's musical repertoire comprises rare hindustani ragas and rhythm, including khayal, trivat, chaturang, tarana, thurmri and bhajan sung in three octaves.

When he was 4 years old, he heard a bhajan sung by Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan on All India Radio Srinagar (AIR). A few months later he repeated that bhajan with amazing accuracy, so deeply did the music touch his heart. At the age of five, he gave his first public performance. Initially Anurag was trained by his mother Shrimati Asha Kaul, a famous AIR and TV artist. After a while he was accepted as a disciple by Pt. Chandrakant Apte and eventually studied the style of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.

Anurag has a Sangeet Alankaar (M.A.) from Gandharva Mahavidyala.

As a result of his Guru's musical tours and performances, Anurag started listening and learning from some of the great exponents of Hindustani classical music. However, his greatest passion was for the music of the maestro Pandit Bhimsen Joshi with whom he has performed and also spent a great deal of time learning his style and rendition.

In the past two years, he was associated with the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Francisco where he performed a solo concert at the invitation of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan Saheb. He has also performed at the Nehru Center in London and other venues in Europe and North America.

Anurag has also been a live Hindi broadcaster and broadcast journalist for the BBC World Service in London.
